RealCold Announces Opening of it’s Latest Temperature Controlled Facility in East Hanover, New Jersey

New 380,000-square-foot facility expands RealCold’s national network, bringing modern cold chain infrastructure, advanced fulfillment capabilities, and strategic access to the Northeast’s largest consumer markets

EAST HANOVER, NJ – RealCold, a national operator and provider of temperature-controlled warehousing and cold chain services, today announced the opening of its newest facility in East Hanover, New Jersey. The approximately 380,000-square-foot, Class A facility adds 16 million cubic feet of temperature-controlled storage capacity to RealCold’s growing national network, establishing a strategic Northeast hub for food manufacturers, importers, grocers, foodservice providers, and direct-to-consumer brands.

Located along Route 10, just 24 miles from Port Newark and within easy reach of the New York metropolitan area, the facility is positioned to support one of the nation’s largest consumer markets and busiest international trade corridors. Its opening marks an important milestone in RealCold’s strategy to establish modern, high-capacity cold storage infrastructure near major population centers, enabling customers to position inventory closer to consumption while improving distribution efficiency.

“Opening East Hanover represents a major step forward for RealCold, our customers, and the tri-state area,” said Keith Goldsmith, Chief Executive Officer of RealCold. “We’ve made a significant investment in a market where demand for modern, flexible cold storage infrastructure remains strong. This facility brings together the location, technology, and operational capabilities our customers need to support their businesses today and accommodate future growth.”

Purpose-built to accommodate a broad range of temperature-controlled products, the facility offers fully convertible storage environments ranging from -20°F to +55°F, approximately 42,000 pallet positions, and 50-foot clear heights. More than 40 dock doors, a 70-foot-wide refrigerated dock, and over 80 trailer parking spaces support efficient inbound and outbound operations, while four-day backup power capability provides an added layer of operational resilience.

Beyond traditional cold storage, East Hanover has been engineered to accommodate increasingly complex customer requirements. Dedicated areas for value-added services, a mezzanine supporting specialized handling activities, and e-commerce fulfillment infrastructure allow RealCold to support case picking, kitting, labeling, order assembly, and direct-to-consumer distribution.

“For our customers, East Hanover is about more than adding storage capacity. It’s about creating options,” said James Kosann, Chief Operating Officer of RealCold. “Whether a food producer needs to stage inventory closer to retailers, an importer needs reliable cold storage near the ports, or a growing brand needs a node to get products on consumers’ doorsteps more quickly, this facility gives us the flexibility to respond. Equally important, customers gain access to an experienced operating team, consistent processes, and the broader capabilities of our national network.”

The East Hanover location also strengthens RealCold’s direct-to-consumer distribution offering. From this facility, customers can reach approximately 57 million consumers through one-day delivery and 106 million consumers through two-day delivery, supporting faster fulfillment and more efficient inventory deployment across the Northeast.

Designed with long-term sustainability in mind, the facility is LEED Silver certified and incorporates an efficient CO2 refrigeration system and future solar power infrastructure. These features reflect RealCold’s commitment to investing in environmentally responsible facilities without compromising performance, flexibility, or reliability.

The opening follows RealCold’s recent investments in new temperature-controlled facilities in Lakeland, Florida, and Lockhart, Texas, and additional warehouses in California, Oregon, Utah, Florida, and Texas. Together, these facilities expand RealCold’s ability to provide integrated storage, handling, value-added services, and e-commerce fulfillment solutions throughout the United States.
